What skills do you need to transition from technical support to cybersecurity?
As mentioned by previous contributors, having a well-rounded generalist IT background makes for a great IT security professional. So many aspiring IT security professionals hone their focus in just one area. While this seems great at face value, many things are missed by doing this. IT security impacts all of IT, and the better you understand that, the better grasp you will have on your environment and how to secure and protect it properly.
